Ocean Park Inn Review
The Ocean Park Inn is located in Pacific Beach in San Diego, California. The location is excellent for those wishing to spend time at the beach. Located directly across the boardwalk from Pacific Beach it is one of the most convenient hotel locations you will find in the area.
The hotel has recently been renovated in a modern sunshine loving California style. The rooms look onto the pool and the Pacific Beach boardwalk. The rooms are designed to block out the city and embrace the beauty of the ocean and pool areas. The accommodations are both comfortable and clean which is very important to me.
We had the pleasure of staying in one of the suites which offered a private bedroom area and an open concept kitchenette which opened onto the living space and out to the deck. The deck area had a small table and looked over the pool and beach. These corner unit suites are much quieter and are very convenient for families traveling with children. We definitely enjoyed having the kitchen, it allowed for us to go to the grocery store and pick up items and it provided us time to really enjoy our vacation at the beach and just relaxing in the hotel room together as a family.
With the hotel being so close to the beach not only do you hear the ocean at night, but you are reminded to spend as much time as possible at the beach. The hotel offers towels and beach toys which makes traveling much more convenient when you don't have to bring these items with you. The beach directly in front of the Ocean Park Inn is less crowded than the southern part of the beach and it is still located directly next to the lifeguard station and public amenities, including showers and restrooms. The pool is small but it is heated and the perfect temperature for relaxing after your day at the beach. There is ample seating on the pool deck and it is surrounded by a plexiglass enclosure which allows the beach to come into the pool area but still offers you privacy. To take a look at the room check out my reel with a room tour.
Nerby the hotel you have access to grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, and small shops. The parking situation was a little difficult but once you are inside of the hotel there are so many local conveniences nearby that you will not really need to access your vehicle all that often. Just a reminder, PB is known for it's college student scene, so the night life is pretty active in this area but with the way the hotel is situated toward the less crowded beach we rarely encountered anyone other than fellow hotel guests. I heard many families in the pool area discussing their day planned at local attractions like Seaworld, the World Famous San Diego Zoo, and Balboa Park. All these locations are great to visit and the Ocean Park Inn is a good place to call home base during your exploration of San Diego.
Overall, I would say the Ocean Park Inn was a favorite for our family. The kids loved the pool area, the proximity to the beach, and overall fun, and vibrant vibe the room offered. I love that everything was in walking distance and the beach was pretty much just ours - even during a spring break weekend! The value for a beach front property was excellent and I would definitely stay here again. To see more on our visit, check out my reel on our stay.
Disclosure: We received a two-night stay in order to review the property. All thoughts and comments are my own.
