Six Tips for the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland
The Oogie Boogie Bash starts this week and to make the most out of your trip you might want to take advice from these Six tips. This SOLD OUT event is a fun way to get into the Halloween Spirit!
Enter as Early as you can
Entrance to the Oogie Boogie bash begins at 3 PM. You can make your way to California adventure and have full access to the park leading up to Oogie Boogie bash party start time at 6 PM. People not attending the Oogie Boogie Bash will be asked to leave the area and by 7 PM they are usually all off site.
Heading in as early as you can to grab some food and drink to get yourself ready for a long fun evening is a helpful idea! You can try a lot of the specialty Halloween themed goodies, saving time for character experiences and trick-or-treating!
2. Get a Locker
Consider getting a locker for this event. Lockers are surprisingly inexpensive for all day access; they range from $7-$10 based on size. I would say it’s one of the few things that has actually kept its price point steady over the years. We like to drop off extra candy and goodies that we’ve picked up on this night as well as extra pieces of our costumes. The DCA lockers are located to the right of the main entrance just pasted the bathrooms.
3. Attend the Second Parade
I highly recommend attending the second showing of the Frightfully Fun Halloween parade. I like to attend this parade because the first showing is quite hot since it’s still not completely dark and I feel like it’s easier to get a good seat and spend less time waiting and missing the specials at Oogie boogie bash. You will want to be at the parade right at the start, so you do not miss the Headless Horseman! He starts off the parade, followed by Mickey and Minnie and then the villains follow behind. The darker the night the better the parade will look.
4. Bring an Extra Bag
Disney will provide each person a treat bag, but I suggest you bring at least one large bag. Especially if you are attending with kids save your hands and get a larger shoulder strap bag. Since we all know we will inevitably be holding at least one kids' bag in addition to our own. We had to empty the large bag at least twice when we went with our two kids, we left the treats in the locker until the end of the night. We had enough candy to last for months.
5. Visit Sid Later in the Night
One of the longest lines at Oogie Boogie Bash is the interactive trick-or-treat station with Sid from Toy Story. I recommend heading here towards the end of the night because the line tends to shorten. One word of advice, Sid is pretty mean and if you have a sensitive child, I highly recommend avoiding Sid altogether.
6. Keep an Eye on the Villains Grove Line
Lastly, I recommend getting in the Villains Grove if the line is shorter than the entrance of the rapids. This line is always long, but a good wait time is approximately when the end of the line is parallel to the water ride. Don’t worry, even if the line is longer and the last thing you have to do just jump in it, it does move a lot quicker than you think. In 2023 the Villains Grove was a great photo spot and lots of fun videos, but I was surprised there were not actual villains in the grove. So, keep that in mind so you aren't disappointed.
Don't forget you can go through the character stations as much as you like and don't be afraid to skip a treat you don't like. There are so many great snacks and goodies, no need to drag around something you don't like. Stop by my Instagram for daily news and posts.
